Abscaff have a proven track record completing many projects on time and on budget. A recent example is the spectacular twin spire, Saint Peter’s Church in Buckie. The church was built in 1851 – 1857 at Saint Andrew’s Square in Buckie. The structure stands in excess of forty metres in height.

The scaffold was a bespoke design which allowed us to construct the main body of the church with system scaffolds. By doing this, it vastly reduced the erection time which was a major benefit as the programme timeline was reduced due to the onset of winter. The remaining scaffold to the spires was constructed in traditional tube and fittings supported on aluminium beams, in total one hundred and ten tonnes of scaffold were used on this project.

The scaffold was erected on behalf of one of Scotland’s leading construction companies to facilitate window refurbishment and roofing work. By working closely with the Client and the Site Agent, we were able to complete this job well on time to a high standard which impressed the Client.

The façade scaffolding is on one of Aberdeen’s main shopping streets which meant out of hours work to accommodate public safety. The scaffold consisted of 1400 meters squared of system scaffold. Various roof saddles and handrails were erected using traditional tubes of fittings. Stair access was provided to allow greater flexibility of access for the client.

This impressive structure was constructed using the Haki underdeck scaffolding system. The underdeck was sheeted and carpeted with grit absorbing material to eliminate pollution to the river below.

Haki Temporary Roofing

The main criteria of the job was to ensure that the structure was 100% water tight as the client was removing the entire roof. The support structure which was 12 metres high and included 12 tonnes of ballast weight which was used to counteract uplift forces placed upon the structure by the roof.

The Haki roof utilised Kader sheets to ensure no water penetration, this was further enhanced by pelmet sheeting which completed the integrity of the complete structure. The Client commented afterwards that with the use of the Haki roof system, it allowed them to complete the project ahead of time without any weather related issues affecting the programme.
